With just over a week before the annual Collaborative Law Conference co-sponsored by Collaborative Divorce Texas and the State Bar of Texas, it’s not too late to register. (Register here.) Discounts are still available for members of Collaborative Divorce Texas and/or the Collaborative Law Section of the State Bar of Texas.
In response to requests for substantive skill building presentations, this year’s Course Directors and Planning Committee have put together a program that will have something for all collaborative professionals. With presentations by attorneys, mental health professionals and financial professionals, some of the skill-building presentations include:
- Understanding generational differences in financial decision-making
- Helping couples break out of negative communication cycles and enter into healthy co-parenting relationships
- Drafting of creative collaborative agreements
- Learning “best practices” for financial neutrals
- Dealing with grandiose clients in the process
- Exploring potential ethical issues with “cooperative” vs. collaborative processes
- Understanding how to handle difficult issues surrounding separate and community business interests
- Hearing insights from children of divorce in the collaborative and litigation processes
- Expanding your creative problem-solving skills in an engaging presentation and mini-workshop with Professor Peter Robinson of the Strauss Institute of Dispute Resolution of Pepperdine University
- AND LOTS MORE!
In addition to these substantive skill-building programs, the agenda will include topics to help us all manage difficult cases resulting from poor team dynamics, understand how collaborative teams successfully handle cases in different ways and grow our collaborative community to include more professionals thereby increasing the base of clients seeking collaborative as their preferred way to divorce. This year, there will also be a bonus optional presentation that you will not want to miss on how to quickly and easily generate blog posts for your websites and social media accounts.
The Planning Committee hopes you will come ready to rejuvenate your drive to pursue collaborative cases in your practice. Breakfast will be provided on both days. Spend your Thursday lunch on your own with friends in beautiful Austin and on Friday, lunch will be provided as we hear Tim Crouch with the Crouch Group teach us about the next steps in Collaborative Divorce Texas’ multi-year plan to increase the presence of collaborative divorce in the Texas legal system.
If you have not registered for the Thursday night dinner at Max’s Wine Dive, it’s not too late. Registration is limited to 70 and there are just a few spots remaining. Dinner is free to the first 70 who sign up with Sue Webber at sue@fmltlaw.com. (Drinks are on your own.)
We look forward to seeing you at the conference!
