Collaborative Divorce Texas recognized Houston Attorney Jack Emmott with the 2018 Gay G. Cox Award for Excellence In Collaborative Law on August 13 at the State Bar of Texas Advanced Family Law Conference in San Antonio. Each year the collaborative community awards the Gay G. Cox award to an individual who has shown inspired and dedicated service to the collaborative divorce process and who reflects the ideals and spirit of Gay Cox in trying to be a peacemaker.
In presenting the award, Kevin Fuller, last year’s recipient, said, “This year’s honoree, Jack Emmott, absolutely reflects the spirit and ideals that Gay Cox’s life reflected. Gay was a special person. As an attorney she was a tenacious advocate who had a heart for peace and was able to somehow gracefully combine those two traits into a whole. Her heart for peace drove all she did in her profession, her community and her life.”
Jack Emmott is a lawyer’s lawyer. He is dual board certified in Civil Trial and Family Law and has spent a lifetime in courtrooms in front of judges and juries as an advocate for his clients. He is also a Master Credentialed Collaborative Lawyer with over 100 cases completed within the collaborative process and has spent another lifetime at the negotiating table trying to help families solve their problems completely outside of the courtroom.
He has been consistently listed in magazines and other publications as a top lawyer in Houston and listed in the Best Lawyers in America. He has been honored by everyone from the Governor of Texas to the Boy Scouts of America.
Fuller added, “All of these things are good and honorable but what really sets Jack apart is his heart. He has a heart for peace for those in conflict, a heart for compassion for those in times of suffering, a heart for helping people find gratitude even when they are facing situations where life is not going their way at all. Jack Emmott just simply has a huge heart and a passion for service, and you can see it reflected in how he pursues peace for his clients, his profession, his community and his faith.”
