This year marks the 20th anniversary of the first Collaborative training in Texas. At the Annual State Bar Collaborative Law Course this year, we are focusing on what have we done over the last 20 years and what we hope to do over the next 20 years! I think this year’s conference is going to be a good balance between inspiration, information and education.
When we had the planning committee meeting, we really took to heart the comments that we received from prior conference attendees. One of the big recurring themes in those comments is that the collaborative professionals want to know more about how to build their practice. We have as our keynote speaker this year, Liz Ferris, who has been involved in Collaborative since the beginning. Liz is well known for her work in helping individual attorneys, as well as practice groups, develop and grow their collaborative practice.
Throughout the course, we will have specific presentations on some unique issues that we believe can be handled in the collaborative model, such as same sex marriages, dealing with the influence of adult children in the divorce process and also some complicated business valuation issues.
The conference will be held on Thursday March 5th and Friday March 6th at the AT&T conference center in Austin. It’s a great facility and we’re excited to be back there for this year’s conference.
