CDT President’s Letter

March 13, 2023 by Rhonda Cleaves

March has arrived along with the realization that it’s already March! As I write this, it is the second anniversary of the day the world the shut down due to the virus-that-shall-not-be-named. It’s amazing to think about how much our world has changed in such a short period of time – including our Collaborative world and the opportunities it has given us to change how we operate on a day to day basis. What’s a good example? How about the opportunity to work with other Collaborative professionals around the state on cases using virtual platforms. Or the ability to virtually meet once a month for amazing “Lunch and Learn” continuing education hours with our Collaborative colleagues from around the state. There are plenty of others, but I know I have limited time here – so stay with me….

You (should) know by now that I have asked you each month to join me in a different challenge in an effort to grow our organization and propel the Collaborative movement forward. Each month I ask you to make a 30- to 60-minute commitment that not only will build our organization, but will also grow your own Collaborative practice. This month, I am channeling my inner Jerry Maguire by asking you to  “Help Us Help You.” How can you help CDT help you?

I asked you to stay with me as I work through this letter to you. Stay with me…. With all of the opportunities the virtual world now gives us, there’s still nothing quite like getting together for the annual Collaborative Law Conference. This conference is always chock full of amazing educational information. But for me, and almost more importantly, it replenishes my spent energy and faith in the goodness of the professionals who help people to divorce using the Collaborative Divorce process. Collaborative Divorce Texas is the nucleus of that energy. Your Board of Trustees cannot continue the important work of this organization, generating the energy necessary to fuel our growth. The Board needs you, our members, to support the mission of our collective efforts. So how can you do that?

Donate A Billable Hour

This challenge takes 60 SECONDS of your time this month. For all the time you bill in one year, can you spare a donation of one billable hour that will help to fuel the organization that serves to grow your Collaborative practice? Will you join me and the rest of the CDT Board in this challenge? Your entire Board of Directors is putting their money where their mouth is. We are not asking our members to do something that we are not willing to do ourselves. You can donate by clicking here. I sincerely hope to see you all in Austin at the conference and at our General Membership meeting. But if you can’t make it in person, I still hope that you will “help us help you.”
