The Art of Decision- Courage

January 3, 2017 By Barbara Cole Leave a Comment

A New Year and deciding to divorce

The New Year brings ample opportunity for making decisions, promises, resolutions and life changing direction. Yet, how do we make the decision to divorce? My clients have come to this decision in many ways, like tributaries pouring out of the Mississippi Delta; they take several routes shifting within their own banks along the way.  Yet, there is still one main course, one main strong current that directs the decision to end a marriage. It may include varied speeds and temperatures, rough water or calm, yet in the end, no matter how painful or difficult my clients have taught me that they knew it was the right thing to do for themselves, their children and their spouse. Their gut check said “Enough!” – At the very least they needed a time out.  In their most vulnerable moments they found the courage to say no more lies, masks, addictions, yelling, chaos, financial infidelity, personal infidelity, separate lives, fake lives, they just wanted to stop what was making them and their children unhealthy-sick. Now what?

Making an appointment with an experienced attorney in the area of Family Law who practices conflict and dispute resolution skills is the next step. Collaborative Law Practice continues to help my clients untie the knot in the most humane, practical and effective process to find the path back to healthy and new life.

As you begin 2017 consider one of the most important decisions of all—who do you want to be this year—and if that includes new beginnings for your family in a manner worthy of your courage when you have had enough then let me know.

Wishing you and yours the best in the year to come.
