This year’s Annual State Bar Collaborative Law Course is scheduled to take place in Austin on March 22 to 23 at the newly renovated AT&T Conference Center. The Planning Committee is excited to announce that two of our own Texas collaborative practitioners will be Friday’s key note speakers for the conference. For those who attended the conference two years ago, you will well remember the presentation by Jennifer Leister and Carie Silvestri, educating all of us about the importance of a Child Specialist in the collaborative divorce process – what the role is, how the role differs from a child therapist and a neutral mental health professional, and options for when and how to include the Child Specialist in a collaborative process. This year, Ms. Leister and Ms. Silvestri will present a follow-up to their original presentation, but this time including the voices of the children themselves. Ms. Leister and Ms. Silvestri have spent a considerable amount of time this year interviewing the CHILDREN of divorce – not our clients, the parents; but rather the children of our clients. They will share the results of these interviews from around the state, which include children of both collaboratively divorced parents and parents who resolved their divorces in traditional litigation models. You will not want to miss the insight they have to share with all of us as we help guide parents through divorce. Click here for more information on how to register for the conference.
